Autumn is my favourite time of year. I love all the delicious vegetables and fruit that are ripe for gathering. There’s something about the coolness in the air that feels comforting and refreshing. We are reaping the rewards of the spring planting and all the dedicated caretaking during the months in between.

I am grateful for those people who provide us with fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs. I feel it is important to support our local producers because the food is at its freshest and therefore, provides the greatest nourishment. I like to know where my food is coming from and how it has been grown or raised. We have no idea about the food from the supermarket that is flown in and/or trucked in from miles away. With the many recalls on certain products, including organic varieties, it is hard to know what is best for our health. For these reasons, I believe local is the healthiest because we can actually meet and know the producers and ask them questions and find out exactly what kind of food we are getting. Plus, we are giving them an income so they can keep doing the things they love and can continue to give us more healthy and wholesome food. It’s a win-win for everyone.

There is a group of local farmers who have formed an organization able to provide a wide variety of products to the people of our province through an online ordering system. Then, they deliver the products to a location where you pick them up. They have been delivering to Regina and are now expanding to Saskatoon. One of the members, Hélène Tremblay-Boyko, has written all about it in her article, The Farmers’ Table is Two Years Old and Expanding to Saskatoon! (p. 14) I know this is a terrific project and I strongly encourage people to learn more about it and to support our local farmers. They are the backbone of our food supply and in this day and age, I believe food security is the most important part of staying alive and keeping healthy. In the big picture, much of our food has been tampered with so much that the only source safe to consume is that of our friends and neighbours who produce it. To all of you local food producers, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, because I love fresh, uncontaminated, non-GMO food. Keep up the great work and the great life!

Our Mindful Eating writer, Stacey Tress, has discovered a very cool project, which she writes about it in her Food is Free—Grow Free Food and Community in Your Front Yard article on page 8. It is a way to get to share your home-grown food with others who can use it and to build community as you do this. It is a fun project and something that anyone can do, so be sure to read all about it and if you create your own project, then let me know about your experiences in doing it. We can publish it in one of our upcoming issues.

Michael Stodola has provided a series of thought-provoking articles, two of which were in the most recent issues. In this third article, he tackles the Genesis vs Expanded Perception (p. 34) theme. He says, “Our mission is to expand our perception while realizing the infinite nature of reality.” I feel it is beneficial to publish a wide variety of views that can contribute to overall good health and wellness. That way, it offers people diverse opportunities, all of which can help expand their thinking and awareness. If we are all infinite, then there are no limits to what we can do and accomplish. For me, that’s exciting!

There are many more articles to read and advertisers to discover throughout this issue, so I encourage you to go through it from cover to cover so you don’t miss anything. I am grateful for all those who contribute to WHOLifE and I hope you, the readers, will let those people know how much you appreciate their unique offerings. It is imperative in these uncertain and changing times to keep ourselves whole, healthy, and connected with each other so we can cope with whatever circumstances the world sends our way. WHOLifE is dedicated to providing you with a variety of information to help guide you on your life journey. If you know of a topic you think would be of interest to our readers, then let me know and we can discuss it.

May you all have a fabulous two months, until we meet again in November.
From my heart to yours!

Namaste (The spirit in me honours the spirit in you)
